Steven Aitchison wrote an article titled "14 Little Thoughts That Can Shatter Your Dreams".

He gives you a great list of thoughts that are worth eliminating, so I highly recommend that you check them out.

I especially like his succinct response to the "I'm too old" negative thought.

He simply says: "Eh! No you're not."
