  • Stop focusing on negative value in your life and situation, and believing it is good and right for you and others to notice this negative value and feel bad about it
  • Start focusing on positive value in your life and situation, and believing it is ok and great for you and others to notice this positive value and feel good about it

To do this, learn why the first way of thinking doesn't help you or make sense, while the second one does, and then make choices based on what you've learned.

Stop focusing on negative value in your life and situation, and believing it is good and right for you and others to notice this negative value and feel bad about it

Here's why there's no value in this type of negative thinking:

  • You have less happiness and enjoyment due to focusing on negative value in your life and situation. Even worse, your mind is actively motivated to make you feel bad about it, due to you believing that it is good and right for you and others to notice this negative value and feel bad about it.
  • So not only do you feel bad and happy, but it's more challenging to feel better due to you being compelled to feel bad. If, for some reason, you start to feel happier, you will feel uncomfortable with it, due to you believing that it's "good and right" to feel bad instead. This creates stress for you, decreases your happiness and enjoyment, and makes it likely that you'll revert back to feeling bad and unhappy which is more comfortable for you.
  • Due to feeling bad and unhappy, you have less enjoyable social interactions. And if other people try to lift your spirits, and show you all the positive value in your life, you will feel compelled to reject or fight off their attempt due to believing that it's good and right for you and others to notice the negative value in your life rather than any positive value. This hurts your social interactions even more and makes you feel even worse.

Start focusing on positive value in your life and situation, and believing it is ok and great for you and others to notice this positive value and feel good about it

Here's why there's great value in this type of positive thinking:

  • You have more happiness and enjoyment due to focusing on positive value in your life and situation. Even better, your mind is actively motivated to make you feel good about it, due to you believing that it is ok and great for you and others to notice this positive value and feel good about it.
  • So not only do you feel better, but you also become happier faster and easier due to you being compelled to feel good. Also, when you feel happier, you immediately feel comfortable with it, due to you believing that it's ok and great to feel this way. This makes you at peace with improving your emotions, which increases your happiness and enjoyment, and makes you feel even better.
  • Due to feeling better, you have more enjoyable social interactions. And when other people try to lift your spirits, and show you all the positive value in your life, you naturally accept and enjoy their help due to believing that it's ok and great for you and others to notice the positive value in your life and feel good about it. This improves your social interactions and helps you feel even better.

Enjoy a beneficial change that makes sense

  • Just like it's neither right nor wrong to see a glass as half empty or half full, it's neither right nor wrong for you and others to notice negative value in your life and feel bad about it, or to notice positive value in your life and feel great about it. The difference is that focusing on the negative value depresses you and makes you miserable, while focusing on the positive value lifts your spirits and makes you feel better.
  • When you consider this, it makes complete sense to believe that it's great for you and others to feel good about this positive value.   • When you consider how you and others are fully capable of focusing on the positive value in your life and feeling great for you, rather than focusing on the negative value and feeling bad about it, and when you consider how this is completely acceptable, valid, and beneficial to do, it makes complete sense to focus on positive value in your life and situation, and believe it is ok and great for you and others to notice this positive value and feel good about it.
