Here's why there's no value in this type of negative thinking:

  • When you see positive value in unhappiness and choosing to think in ways that make you unhappy, your mind automatically thinks in destructive ways that create greater unhappiness, like some of the ways that you have seen in this level:
    • Believing that you can't accept any positive value that you see as good enough for you to be pleased and satisfied with it
    • Believing that it is bad or "wrong" for you to experience pleasure and satisfaction
    • Focusing on negative value in your life and situation, and believing it is good and right for you and others to notice this negative value and feel bad about it
  • Individually, each of these types of thinking has a harmful impact on you and makes you unhappy. But when combined, they reinforce one another, and the impact is magnified. This can easily take a harmful, physical toll on your body, where your body is perpetually stressed, fatigued, and you feel miserable in general. These modes of thinking will also interfere with the quality of your sleep, making you feel even worse.
  • So when you value unhappiness and choosing to think in ways that make you unhappy, your life naturally becomes less meaningful, worthwhile, and enjoyable. And the more unhappy you become, the greater your chances are of struggling with depression. It's very predictable.
